POLYESTER · FABRIC SELECTION GUIDE
Woven polyester fabric: choose for its intended function.
Evaluate the actual sample against your product requirements rather than assuming every polyester fabric is the same.

Polyester is a widely used synthetic fibre group. Relative crease resistance and strength are often mentioned, but polyester fabrics may also develop static, pill or retain odours depending on their structure and conditions of use. These points guide questions and sample testing; they do not replace the test results for a specific product.
Choose according to what the fabric needs to do
Start with the finished product's requirements: should the surface be matt or lustrous, soft or structured, smooth or textured, in what environment will it be used, and how will it be cleaned? Then compare those needs with a woven sample. Fibre type, density, weave and finishing affect breathability, drape, hand feel and appearance.
For polyester blended with cotton or viscose, confirm each fibre's proportion and the exact fabric sample. The name “poly” alone does not tell you the blend proportions, weave, colourfastness or water resistance.
Steps for reviewing a polyester sample
- Check composition, width, weight and the applicable tolerances.
- Inspect colour, lustre, weave and the reverse side under consistent lighting.
- Sew a trial to assess seams, drape and the surface in the finished product.
- Test washing, ironing or rubbing under intended use conditions; check static, pilling, shrinkage and colour change if these are requirements.
- Record the colour code, approved sample and acceptance procedure for comparison with the production batch.
Polyester is suitable when the sample meets the requirements
General fibre properties cannot substitute for testing. If colourfastness, crease resistance, breathability or water resistance is important, agree on the test method and acceptance limits with the supplier before placing a large order. Do not infer a technical function from the fibre name alone.
When asking Lâm Anh about polyester fabrics, wholesale buyers and garment makers can send photographs or an approved sample, product type, surface requirements, colour, width, weight and expected quantity. Specifications and prices are discussed for the actual sample.
